Laboratory for Pancreatic Cancer Research

The laboratory, directed by Dr. Scott Kern, is constructing a molecular genetic foundation for understanding pancreatic cancer. In the past four years, pancreatic cancer has advanced from being one of the most difficult research subjects, for which little genetic understanding was available, to become one of the best-described genetic models of a human cancer type. The laboratory and its collaborators aim to use this new understanding to design gene-based tests for early detection and to develop strategies for effective therapy.
